Are you on the verge of a burnout? Read to find out

Burnout has been a prevalent issue worldwide and is resulting in poor public health.

Burnout cases have been on the rise all over the world and as a result, the general health of people is going downhill. A survey by Entity Health studied 1,000 participants and nearly 40 per cent reported that they are stressed atleast 3 days in a week, reported the DailyMail.

Another data revealed that one-fourth of the respondents woke up feeling tired every morning and nearly half were reliant on coffee to get them through the day. The following are indicators that you are having a burnout or are on the verge of one.

Not feeling refreshed after a night’s sleep

Not getting a good night’s sleep is the first and most common symptom of a burnout. You feel so burdened with work and stress that you don’t feel completely rested upon waking up. It can feel like you are having your life sucked out of you.

This symptom is usually triggered by worry, stress and anxiety. To avoid this, take regular time outs from work each day, and during this time, stay away from technology completely.

Lack of motivation and concentration

If you find yourself dreading to go to work, putting only the bare minimum effort that is needed or not motivated to start a new project, it is possible that you are suffering from a burnout. “People just sit at the desk, staring at the screen and it takes them forever to make the most simple of decisions,” said Dr Sam Hay on his podcast, Thinkergirls.

Experiencing emotional conflict

Burnout doesn’t always result in a lack of energy; it can sometimes manifest in bouts of anger too. People find themselves unable to control their emotions. If provoked, they may not be able to moderate their emotions and tend to lash out to those dear to them.

If you feel that you are quick to snap at people, take a step back and evaluate yourself. Developing problem-solving skills can help deal with tricky situations.

Emotional withdrawal from loved ones

Another common symptom is when the person starts withdrawing himself from his social and family life. They feel that they are no longer able to keep up relationships and stop caring about things and people who are important to them. It takes a lot of effort to stay motivated.

One should make sure that the lines of communication are kept open to prevent any misunderstandings in relationships.

Manifestations of physical symptoms

In extreme cases of burnout, it can manifest in the form of physical symptoms such as muscle pain and joint pain. This was backed up by a study by Entity Health, which revealed that three-fourth of the respondents said that experienced joint pain atleast once a week. Stomach pain, headaches and in extreme cases, chest pain can also result from burnouts.

Make sure to keep yourself fit and healthy by exercising regularly to avoid these symptoms from becoming serious health issues.
