Karnataka to soon launch Cochlear implant project

Children with severe or profound hearing loss will be managed free of cost.

Bengaluru: The State health department would be launching the Cochlear Implant Project in the city on Tuesday under the "Deafness Free Karnataka" initiative discussed at the Budget.

The program would be launched under The National Health Mission, Department of Health and Family Welfare Services and would be implemented through Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust (SAST) under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakrama (RBSK). Children with severe or profound hearing loss will be managed free of cost. Children between 8 months to 6 years would be eligible for the Cochlear implants.
