ALAPPUZHA: District collector Veena N. Madhavan has ordered the RDO to take legal action against the children of a nonagenarian cancer patient who were not taking care of him. The collector also asked RDO Muraleedharan Pilliai to help him get pension. This was one of the 600 cases settled out of 2,100 complaints received at ‘Sevana Sparsham,’ the collector's taluk-level complaint-redressal initiative held in Cherthala taluk on Monday. Most of the complaints were received in the categories of medical relief, landless and priority list cases. Forty-two people were given medical relief under the chief minister’s relief fund and 95 cases relating to land were settled.

The complainants gathered at the venue, Sree Narayana High School, since 8 a.m. when the registration began. Unsettled cases were handed over to the officials concerned and they were instructed to submit a report. The update on the cases will be available on the website http://www.ssdcalp.i /sevanasparsham/. Physically challenged people and the relatives of accident victims also got relief. The complaints of many people suffering from chronic deceases were put up for further consideration by the tahasidar.
