A total of 16 people who underwent heart transplantation in the state greeted each other on the occasion of the golden jubilee of the first heart transplant in the world. Joining them on the occasion was the woman who underwent the first transplant in the country, Preethi Unhale who belongs to Indore in Madhya Pradesh. Interestingly the day was her birthday as well.

Shailaja who inaugurated it. Unhale underwent the transplantation 17 years ago at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi which was led by Dr P Venugopal.
