Reboot your body

So, the party's over! While you're still happy with heady memories of being with friends, your body may be reeling under weight of toxins.

It’s very important to keep oneself hydrated. People should drink vegetable juices or infused water. It gives a break to one’s digestive system which has been tortured during the revelry. One thing I like to eat when I want to go easy on myself, and which is very nutritious as well, is carrot salad.

Grate a carrot, add sesame or coconut oil, with a dash of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar — recipe for a perfect carrot salad to make you feel full. Your body can digest this easily and this helps in flushing out the toxins. If you want a little twist to this plain salad, add raisins and chopped, soaked almonds.

How to stay fit?
Kuldeep, fitness expert also points out the importance of a proper diet plan to get over the harm one could have done to the body while celebrating. It is very important to follow a proper diet and exercise routine. Diet should be rich with high protein and fibre, whereas, exercising every day is essential rather than exercising for three days for two hours each. It doesn’t help, rather it dehydrates and tires.

With the excesses of the week leading up to the new year, comes many resolutions to get healthy. One good way to kick start a healthy lifestyle is to detox.

Contrary to what many say, a detox is a must for cleansing your system, two to three times a year. It is a short interval of concentrated intake of nutrients boosting your immunity and helping your system release and eliminate toxins. Ideally, 2 to 3 days is a good time frame to detox.

People should start their day with a glass of hot water with half a teaspoon of honey and a squeeze of lemon. One should ensure that they have a gap of two hours between all meals.

Water should be consumed about every half hour to 40 mins — water infused with mint, lemon and basil boosts immunity and cleanses the digestive track. When taken warm, it proves very effective in releasing grease along the digestive tract.

1. Include loads of liquids for the first two days
2. Don’t drink canned juices. Instead, opt for fresh fruit or vegetable juices. Canned juices contain added sugar which is bad for your health

What to eat?

  • Breakfast could be a mix of citric fruit like pineapple or kiwi and dense nutrient fruit like papaya.
  • Mid morning: To get a boost, one can have a beetroot, carrot; pomegranate and ginger extract — about 250 ml.
  • Lunch can be about yogurt and steamed vegetables.
