Researchers claimed to have found link between cell phones and cancer

Researchers claimed to have found 'clear evidence' that shows radiation from cell phones does cause cancer, the Daily Mail reported.

According to a 10-year study by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), it causes various types of cancers from the heart to the brain.

Even though the study was conducted on rodents that were exposed to higher levels than humans, the association between the phones and cancer was evident in male rats.

However, researchers note the evidence was less clear when it came to female rats.

Nevertheless, scientists warn that men especially should be cautious and minimize their exposure particularly in sensitive areas.

Senior scientist Dr John Bucher at the National Toxicology Program (NTP) in Durham, North Carolina told the Daily Mail: "The exposures used in the studies cannot be compared directly to the exposure that humans experience when using a cell phone.

"In our studies, rats and mice received radio frequency radiation (RFR) across their whole bodies.

"By contrast, people are mostly exposed in specific local tissues close to where they hold the phone.

"In addition, the exposure levels and durations in our studies were greater than what people experience."
