Son puts on 10 kgs to save dying father by donating bone marrow

The reason for this was because he was too underweight for doctors to safely extract his bone marrow.

An 8-year-old boy in China gained about 22lbs so that he could be able to donate his bone marrow to his gravely ill father. The reason for this was because he was too underweight for doctors to safely extract his bone marrow.

Cao Yinpeng’s dad was diagnosed with leukemia and was told that he had only six months to live. Although Cao wished to donate immediately, his weight was too less according to China’s health laws. In the absence of other suitable candidates for the procedure, Cao followed a diet plan that would enable his body to not just gain weight but also produce enough blood. He was also helped by his family to achieve his goal in two months.

The surgery turned out to be successful and his father is now on the path to recovery, reports Straits Times. Moreover Cao has learned to cook so that he can take care of his father even better.
