Nine-year-old can't stand heat or cold due to rare allergic reaction
A nine-year-old girl from Nottingham can only leave her home when the weather is mild due a rare condition she suffers from.
Bethany Bell was born with a chromosome disorder known as 1q4 deletion which makes her sick if her body temperature changes, reported the Daily Mail. She cannot take the cold or hot weather conditions.
The Rare Chromosome Disorder Support Group states a 1q4 deletion means that the cells of the body have a small but variable amount of genetic material missing from one of their 46 chromosomes – chromosome 1", the Daily Mail reported.
Chromosome 1 represents close to 8% eight of the total DNA in cells and is the largest chromosome. When parts of this chromosome is missing it can result in birth defects, delay in development and difficulty learning.
When she was born she had to undergo two surgeries on her brain because her head was growing at a very fast pace.
Currently the young child need care 24/7 and requires help to do everything.
Only 50 cases of 1q4 deletion have been reported globally since 1976.
