Four-legged baby in Gujarat nicknamed Alien', undergoes complex operation
It can be quite difficult for a toddler with a rare deformity but it is even worse for the parents who have to deal with unwanted negative attention. A Gujarati baby born with four legs who was called an ‘alien’ by the villagers has finally been operated four months after her birth.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, the baby who is yet to be named underwent the operation in May once she was stronger after she was born in January earlier this year. The extra pair was successfully removed during a complex operation at a civic-run hospital in Ahmedabad after it was found to be a parasitic twin. The parents, Pratap and Surekha Muli were left dejected after they were told by villagers that they were cursed and called their child an ‘alien’.
The mother-of-four was unaware of the four-legged child because they did not have money to do an ultrasound before the delivery and was shocked to see her child when it was born. The child fortunately survived the five-hour surgery without any complication for the rare condition that affects one in a million newborns in the world.
