People told to practise yoga for good health

VIJAYAWADA: NTR district collector Dr S. Dilli Rao said that everyone could improve their mental health and get stress relief by practising yoga daily. He further said that people might do yoga every day to energise all parts of the body, build strength, and reduce anxiety.

He visited the free summer yoga camp of the Amaravati Yoga and Aerobic Association at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium in Vijayawada on Sunday.

Dilli Rao recalled that our ancestors led a happy life by practising yoga and added that the ancestors also lived long lives without any chronic disease by doing yoga asanas. He said that yoga could improve flexibility, boost immunity, and improve self-esteem. He said that yoga was included as a procedure in 257 health centres along with various medical practices across the district.

The collector further assured that they would lend a helping hand to this sort of yoga centre and added that they would also assist the government in constructing a new building for yoga classes.

Amaravati Yoga and Aerobic Association president and former additional SP D.V. Nageswara Rao, industrialist Chukkapalli Arun Kumar, AP State Yoga League Coordinator G. Venkateswara Rao, and others participated.
