KIMS Doctors Successfully Sustain Pregnancy After Four Miscarriages

Hyderabad: A couple’s long-standing pain and unfulfilled dream of having a child finally came to an end. They had dreamt of a baby running around their house but faced heartbreak repeatedly.
The woman suffered not one, not two, but four miscarriages due to a severely weak uterus, unable to support the fetus. However, with modern medical advancements, the doctors at KIMS Hospital performed laparoscopic sutures on the uterus during her pregnancy, helping her carry the baby to term.
The couple finally welcomed a healthy baby into their lives. This groundbreaking treatment was carried out by Dr. Cheepurupalli Vasundhara, Senior Consultant Gynecologist and Laparoscopic Surgeon at the hospital.
Dr. Vasundhara explained: “A 27-year-old woman from Hyderabad had experienced four miscarriages previously. We suggested corrective treatment before her next pregnancy. However, she approached us when she was already nine weeks pregnant. Since medical intervention is not advisable until 12 weeks of pregnancy, we waited until then. Afterward, we performed a laparoscopic procedure called Laparoscopic Abdominal Cerclage, stitching the upper part of the uterus to strengthen it. The miscarriages were due to her uterus being too weak to carry the baby, but this procedure provided the necessary support.
