Modern food plaza now at Ernakulam junction

The food plaza is the first of its kind, and is aimed at people on the move.

Kochi: Soon you can buy good quality food without standing in queue or waiting for delivery from railway stations. The first of the modern food plazas, being set up by non Aero division of the Casino Air Caterers and Flight Services in tie up with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will start functioning at Ernakulam South railway station from Wednesday.

"The food plaza is the first of its kind, and is aimed at people on the move. Another novelty will be the self-service section where commuters can select prepared foods like juices, snacks and sandwiches among others and pay the bill while coming out. This way, they won't have to worry about standing in queue or waiting for the food to be serviced," said a senior IRCTC official.

"The centrally air-conditioned food court comes up in an 8000 sq feet area. We're also set to open a master concessionaire at terminal 1 of the Cochin International Airport Ltd and also along the highway to the airport to facilitate travelling public," said George Dominic, managing director, CAFS.
