Ready to cook and ready to eat sea food at Kasimedu
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Fisheries Development Corporation will establish a central kitchen at Kasimedu (North Chennai) to produce ‘ready to cook and eat’ sea fish food.
This will come up at a cost of Rs 8.32 crore and in addition Modern Mobile Restaurants would be set up at Chennai and Mamallapuram for Rs 1.15 crore, Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa told the Assembly on Wednesday.
Making a suo moto statement in the Assembly, she said the mobile restaurants would provide hygienic sea fish food at affordable prices. She informed that 300 youth from the fishermen community would be provided three-months training annually with monthly stipend of Rs 1,000, to enable them get jobs in Coast Guard and Navy. This would be implemented at Rs 1.4 crore.
Steps would be taken to increase fish production to 4.5 lakh tons from the current 2.4 lakh tons. The production of fish fingerlings would be increased and six fish seed production and rearing centres would be upgraded at a cost of Rs 13.65 crore. Through this, it would be possible to produce two crore fish fingerlings additionally, the Chief Minister added.
