Film fantasy: This Grand Master can tease your taste buds, satiate appetite

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Taking a cue from actors Dilip and Mohanlal, director B. Unnikrishnan has ventured into the restaurant business with his new venture Grand Master’s kitchen. The movie and chess themed restaurant was named after his film and is located behind Saphalyam complex.

A look at the walls provide a visual treat for movie buffs as posters of all famous Malayalam movies and Indian classics are engraved on the walls. Famous dialogues like Polandine kurichu oraksharam mindipokaruthu also find their space here. Posters of yesteryear movies like Vilakku vangiya veena, Achanum Bappayum, Rajavinte Makan can take diners on a nostalgic trip while munching various food ranging from Thai to Arabian.

However, the menu cards will have more to do with chess and less on movies. The dessert section in the end reads, “You are about to say checkmate euphorically. Just pause for a second and savour the sweetness before you sign off”. Mr Unnikrishnan said that he ventured into the business after good study done during his travels.

He claims to have roped in best possible chefs in each category. The glass facades does not miss out in paying out tribute to every legends of Malayalam movies such as Bharathan, Padmarajan, Yesudas, MT Vasudevan Nair, Mohanlal, Mammotty and Bharath Gopi.
