Craving for ice cream means that either your body needs the nutrients it has or you simply want a cold, sweet treat. But, ice cream is high in sugar and its main ingredients are cream, milk, sugar and flavouring substances. So, if you are set on eating healthy and yet crave for ice cream, you can compensate with this Vegan treat known as ‘nicecream’.
Nice cream is a dish of frozen bananas blended into a soft serve. You can add extra ingredients like chocolate, cherries or nuts to give your sweet treat a healthy twist. Not only does it taste good, but it is the healthiest ice cream too. And if you don’t like the taste of bananas, don’t worry! Something about the freezing and blending process magically removes the banana taste and literally transforms the whole thing into its ice cream lookalike.
For a bowl of nicecream, finely chop bananas into pieces before putting it in the freezer. Make sure that the bananas are really ripe before you freeze it. Add a teaspoon of organic cocoa powder and any fruit of your choice. Put them into a blender and add one tablespoon water if you want a smooth consistency. Add a little coconut milk or other vegan substitutes like almond milk or soy milk for a creamy thick texture. Once blended, freeze it again. Before serving the nice cream, sprinkle some dry fruits, nuts, coconut flakes and some chia seeds. Even pomegranate seeds work well.
