Better known as Ser Gregor Clegane or the Mountain from Game of Thrones, Reykjavik-based actor and strongman, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson has branched out his interests and is now spokesperson and co-owner of Icelandic Mountain Vodka. He has even launched a new video advertising his product where he says, “Everybody loves the Icelandic Mountain Vodka.” Part of the Icelandic Spirits collection, this vodka is made with pure Icelandic water, which is distilled seven times. Boasting a gluten-free label, the vodka is part of a mythological line that also includes gin, rum and shots inspired by legendary creatures.
This is hardly the first time that the Game of Thrones hype has been used to sell drinks. The Sydney-based Wines of Westeros launched in 2014 and boasted elegant wine bottles labelled with the dynasty symbols. You can get Baratheon and Lanister Pinot Noirs and Dothraki Merlot. The Seven Thrones Ale, a hoppy wheat ale was also launched late in December last year by Omegang Brewery as part of a series of Game of Thrones-based beers.
