Instant beer mix to be reality soon
Post instant coffee mixes and instant energy drink mixes, say hello to instant craft beer powder. A brewery in Denmark, called To Øl says that it’s using scientific research to make the idea of instant craft beer a reality. The mix created by the brewery is freeze-dried, since the method removes beer’s dry matter. That means, all the proteins and fats can be removed from the beer in an unaffected way. This also retains the aroma in the mixture, more intensely so, compared to traditional distilling.
The brewery initially started the project with four beers to be freeze-dried. A heavy beer brewed with coffee, a fruity IPA beer brewed with different tropical fruits, a wild yeast hop forward IPAs and a dry pilsner. While producing four different dry matters and corresponding alcohol, reads the blog post by the company, the staff realised that people would also be able to mix together the matter, creating their desired type of beer.
The product, however, is far from being ready for the market, with packaging being the next step the brewery aims to tackle. The company also aims to tackle being able to get the beer in difficult places like mountainous terrain or in aeroplanes.
