We’ve all heard about the sweet-tooth syndrome but with that infectious sweet smile Shradha Lulla balances the sweet cravings with high-nutrition desserts that are made from the choicest gourmet ingredients imported from around the world Rough-hewn timber tables contrast with sparkling white italian marble at Shradha’s landmark home in Chennai and this is where the home baker gets to work.
Married to one of Chennai’s most celebrated supercar enthusiast, owner and promoter of many motoring initiatives Shradha found her own calling, thanks to her extensive travels and sampling the best gourmet dessert joints from around the world. She says, “As a family we all enjoy desserts and our meals are planned in such a way that there’s always place for the perfect dessert. We arent easily drawn to anything sweet and are careful about the texture, ingredients, health benefits and the right taste. We don’t waste our dessert cravings on unnecessary calories. We prefer opting for well-made and we’ll thought-out dessert recipes,” and continues, “I like working with hazelnuts, chestnuts, high degree dark chocolates and fat free coconut milk. In my gourmet dessert venture we ensured that in each bite there’s the goodness of fresh produce. In the market there are a lot of ice cream cakes and my daughter used to always order for them. When I tasted them I found that there’s more magic that can be added to your dessert bowl I invented my own recipe that combines nutritious biscuit base with sea salt, natural sugar and ice cream that is light and with less additives. Even the chocolate coating or the garnish decor is made from the purest cocoa.” Her mastery of desserts includes Nutella Mousse, Granola Crumble and a melt-in-your mouth biscuit pudding made from the most exquisite ingredients.
Aiming to cater to a niche market of discerning dessert aficionados Shradha says, “People in the city are well travelled and exposed to some of the world’s finest dessert dens and I wanted them to not crave anything they’ve tasted overseas. My desserts combine the magical mix of Chennai’s palate and international essentials that make the dessert truly come alive.”
Speaking of her inspiration she says, “As a family we experience so much in terms of gourmet outings, travel and meeting with culinary masters. My husband especially encourages me to be open to taste and textures of all kinds. I am hugely inspired by the ingredients too. Chestnuts for example how they retain their crunch yet seamlessly take in the coconut milk based sauce in the dessert. I also love how melted chocolate forms mounds of crunchy goodness around nuts in my almond rocks dessert.”
A celebrity in her own right thanks to the family’s voracious appetite for all the good things in life Shradha has a streak of service in her and is known to be the one who ensures no one leaves her home hungry and have had an experience to remember. Perhaps this new venture also veers towards her passion to spread happiness.
