Bringing Munich to Chennai!

With lip-smacking authenticity paid to the cuisine, the Oktoberfest at Hyatt Regency will leave you with a Bavarian rush.

Oktoberfest is always reason to rejoice, and the celebrations at Hyatt Regency recently did not disappoint any! Season six of the much-loved fest at the hotel is witnessing two weeks of rejoicing the 200-year-old Bavarian tradition, with German cuisine and brews to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters.

Executive Chef Vikram Ganpule tells us, “The festive season started with a bang, and we love the line-up of celebrations during this time of the year. Hyatt Regency Chennai was the first to start the festival and this time it’s bigger than ever before.”

With a menu designed to entice the senses, we started off with the salad counter to whet our appetites. The roasted pork, eye beans salad, and crispy speck went wonderfully together, as did the potato salad, yogurt mayo and chives. The sauerkraut had a distinctive flavour and was a hit with everyone who tasted it.

What is a German cuisine without their breads? With a variety of offerings such as the German soft pretzels, kaiser rolls, sour dough loaves, German rye rolls, caramelised onion pretzels and pumpernickel bread, we were spoilt for choice.

Of course, we couldn’t forget our favourite part of the menu! The Hefeweizen style beer, Erdinger was a gorgeous wheat beer, which paired perfectly with the sumptuous array of offerings. Its golden cloudy appearance had even the non-drinkers contemplating taking a sip!

We did save the best for the last though — as the barbeque grill in the buffet beckoned to us. Pork curry wurst, pork bratwurst, chicken and pork frankfruter, chicken cheese and chilli sausages were just some of the delicacies that invitingly called out to the patrons, who were already enjoying the cosy atmosphere coupled with the fantastic Bavarian music that lifted everyone’s spirits around.
