Maggie Masala Dal Khichdi
Ingredients
1 cup rice
½ cup moong dal
1 finely chopped onion and tomato
2 green chillies or red chilli powder
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
2 tsp Maggie masala powder
Salt to taste
2 cups water
Coriander sprigs
Method
Wash rice and moong dal and soak together in water for 20 minutes. Drain and keep aside until needed.
Add two tbsp oil in a pressure cooker.
Add ginger-garlic paste and green chillies, and sauté. Add chopped onion and tomatoes and sauté for one to two minutes or until onions turn light brown.
Add drained rice and moong dal, red chilli powder, salt and Maggie masala powder. Sauté for about a minute.
Add two cups water, mix well and close the lid. Pressure cook for three whistles on medium-high flame.
Turn off flame and let the pressure come out naturally. Open lid carefully, after about six to eight minutes.
Garnish with fresh coriander sprigs, and serve with plain yogurt or
pickle.
