2017 Fashion Calender: The sartorial report
Take a peek into 2017’s fashion calendar as designers pick their favourites for the coming year.
Metallic sheen: Karn Malhotra
Sequins and shimmer will continue their impact on the world of fashion in the coming year. From making an elegant appearance on blouses, collars and cuffs to shining out loud in elaborate jackets and dresses, sequins, shimmer and metallic shades will find favour with the modern power woman.
Modern cuts: Amit Agarwal
The trends in 2017 will not be as simplistic. According to me, detailed, textural and artistically inspired garment will make statements. I look forward to is structured pant suit with a touch of playfulness, the contemporary mid-calf cut dresses and volume to make the ensemble dramatic and the athletic inspired pieces which will continue to be seen throughout the year.
Ruffled effect: Pria Kataaria Puri
Ruffles and tassels are versatile and will be seen as detailing on blouses, dresses, maxis and even gowns. They are fun, chic and wearable, and hence will rule the entire 2017.
Cape crusader: Samant Chauhan
I would suggest pairing a cape dress with statement earrings for the New Year. The capes suit all body types, petite or plus size and will also help keep you keep warm. You can pair separates like a classic black dress with a red or any bright hue that will create contrast. To add zing to your look, make sure your makeup is metallic.
Athleisure: Prerna Batra
Sporty meets glam will be the defining vibe for 2017. The two just go hand in hand beautifully — comfy and chic at the same time. A pair of wide leg pants teamed with trenchcoats or bomber jackets look fabulous.
Mono fashion: Amy Billimoria
Simplistic yet stylish cuts, rich fabrics and minimal colouring is something that I would recommend for 2017. A monochrome high-waisted trouser suit with an origami detailing to create an edgy look is one of the defining looks for the coming year. Dark eyes and hair worn in a high ponytail will bring out the best.
Global local: Vaishali Shadangule
It will be a year full of versatility meeting contemporary and traditional looks. A feeling of defining or reinventing will be in the air. Designers will be seen experimenting with various traditional textiles and silhouettes and taking it to the global platforms.
Haute and arty: Anupama Dayal
Art and fashion have complemented one another always and I feel that 2017 will see a beautiful mix of these two dynamic worlds. I would like to see more silhouettes with painterly strokes and art references in the coming New Year.
Pretty pastel: Wendell Rodricks
Since pastels have dominated 2016 as well, I believe they will go big in the coming seasons as well. I also have a feeling that it will even be a ruling trend in the bridal arena.
Minimal affair: Rutu and Neevaa
Minimalistic silhouettes in bold colours will be in trend because we believe 2017 will be dominated by understated glamour with a strong emphasis on techniques of garment construction.
