Meet Miss Ooru

This 17-year-old beauty is ecstatic to wear the coveted Miss Bangalore crown.

Bhavana Sreepad is a happy girl. Busy with studies, aspiring to become a doctor, she was just one among the 20 finalists of the Miss Bangalore 2016 pageant that was held in the city. Thrilled and totally surprised, the city girl went on to win the title on Saturday night.

The 17-year-old Bengalurean is currently a science student who want to pursue a career in medicine, and is adamant about pursuing modelling too on the sidelines! In a tete-a-tete, the leggy lass and Miss Bangalore tells us about how the opportunity came to her, her future plans, and more…

The young diva chanced upon the contest when her friend told her to participate in it, she reveals, “All my friends wanted me to take part and thought I would be able to win, so I just listened to them,” she laughs. But winning wasn’t as easy as it seems. “The training was very hard. I had to spend around five hours with our coach everyday, where I learnt how to catwalk, pose, do my hair and make-up along with how to modulate my voice. It was quite rigorous. Our coach pushed us to our limit,” reveals the beauty who has never modelled before. “By participating, I realised that I do have a passion for modelling and wish to pursue it. And I think that’s what set me apart from my peers. My edge — I approached the entire thing with a high level of passion and intensity because I love trying out new things. I didn’t participate just for the sake of it. I participated to win,” the 17-year-old says confidently.

Despite slogging for hours and practicing, Bhavana managed to stay upto the mark with her academics as well. “I think my parents and school deserve the credit for this. They were very accommodating even when I didn’t attend school for a number of days every week. My mother took me to all the sessions, corrected my mistakes when I practiced in front of her and was a constant source of support. And it was all worth it when I saw my parents cheering for me, and the happiness on their faces when I won,” says the student of Greenwood High School, who also doubles as a professional Kathak dancer. What are her plans ahead? “I do want to participate in Miss India and continue modelling as I feel like I have a lot of potential, to reach a greater height, and I wish to do this simultaneously without compromising on my academics,” says the beauty with brains, who is clear that she wants to do things her way!
