Mumbai to Milan

Designer Shagun Chauhan of Myuzu, while grateful for the opportunity, elucidates that hard work always bears fruit.

FAD International Academy, a fashion institution in the city created history by showcasing the work of three of its emerging designers at London Fashion Week, and further at the Milan Fashion Week.

The labels — Myuzu, House of DK, and Warp by Kuship Parmar, presented their runway show on February 14 at Victoria House for London Fashion Week. They went on to showcase their designs and impress the international audience in Milan, marking the first time that an Indian institute and designers were part of the show. The indigenously crafted collections by FAD focused on sustainability, craftsmanship and unique textiles.

Designer Shagun Chauhan of Myuzu, while grateful for the opportunity, elucidates that hard work always bears fruit. “I am grateful for giving me opportunities and pushing me ahead in life. My journey from being a student and establishing a brand taught me that with the right mind and focus, one could achieve anything. After showing in both, London and Milan Fashion Week, I have gained a lot of confidence. I am glad to put up my hard work in front of people and getting my brand recognised in the industry,” she smiles.

Devesh Kothari of House of DK is thankful for the platform that is spreading the message of upcycling old denim and converting it to denim fur for a totally new look. “It was a great platform where we designers could share our innovations among the fashion industry,” he shares.

For Shivang Dhruva, Founder Director, FAD International Academy, the idea is to propel students with vision into the Indian as well as international markets. “Beyond just delivering world-class education, we aim to deliver unparalleled industry exposure and platforms to translate our students’ journey into a successful brand. With ‘Runway to Retail’ as a core principle for FAD international, we are proud to see our students achieving such great milestones in the fashion capitals of the world,” he says.

Elated with this newfound access to the international market, Kuship Parmar of Warp says, “Showcasing on international platforms is always a great feeling. The FAD has always supported us with everything, the platforms London and Milan Fashion Week have been a great experience, exposure, and it is amazing, the network we are building.”
