Monochromatic magic

Our fashion experts in Bengaluru reveal how you can work this look and make an impact this winter season.

This western trend has slowly sneaked its way into Indian fashion. Being a very easy trend to carry off, the Monochrome look can be seen in tops, dress and even saree. This is perfect for anyone who loves experimenting with different prints. Sported by celebrities like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra. These designers tell us more about the trend.

This winter is all about dark and solid shades instead of prints and a mixture of shades. “This trend is a really good option for this season. It very easy to style as you doesn’t require a lot of layers. Some people are of the opinion that ethnic clothes need to have Indian prints and fabrics. But with very western trend one can really experiment with in saree” says city-based designer Deepta Raghunath. This designer is of the opinion that opting for contrasting accessories would look really good.

Designer Mary Smriti Kujur says, “If one has to style a look for this season then I would suggest a monochrome dress with a white jacket and black heel with a contrast neck piece that has elements of white black and blue with a blue clutch.” The city based designer is of the opinion that accessories are a best way to balance out the overall look. Babita Jaishankar says, “The overall look can be accessorised with a bold neckpiece, belt and a bag for greater definition. And for ethnic look, a embroidered bag or a mirror work bag will go really well.”

Like any other style the monochrome trend has few pros and cons. “One should keep in mind the personality of the individual. While sporting this trend one should know how balance the look. Small details need to be kept in mind,” explains Deepta.
