The silver lining
Silver is the enigmatic one in the precious metal family. For every ounce that gold radiates and glows, silver lies in the shadows, casting an intriguing appeal subtlety and hypnotically.
Silver is just practical for creating a lustrous and prismatic beauty look fast. For the fall/winter 2018-2019 make-up trends, silver found a home in the inner corners of the eye, where it promotes a look of wakefulness and dimensionality.
Pair it with big eyelashes for an angelic wide-awake look. We can create wonders by combining silver eyeliner with different shades of eyeshadows to create tons of mesmerising looks. For many of us, it can be confusing when we are looking at a palette of colours to try and figure out which ones work best together and which ones won’t. Colours, finishes, and combinations work best together.
SILVER LINER TECHNIQUES:
Splash of Silver: This look is the definition of a happy accident. I initially meant to only apply silver on the outer edges of my lids, but as I kept applying and trying to make both sides even, it kept growing and growing until I finally just embraced it and let it spill out onto my cheekbones. It made for a super ethereal highlighted look. Perfect for a wine and dine evening.
Ombré: Committing to one eyeliner hue isn’t necessary for ombré liner. Whether you’re into mattes or metallics, blend all your favourite shades together for a technicolour look. This is a perfect prom look.
Layered: In addition to standard black flicks, people have been tracing along the same lines with one or two different colours to create a compounded liner effect. This is a complete fashion look.
Floating: Instead of drawing on wings that start at the base of your lashes, we can elevate the look — literally. With the help of tape, you can line lids a centimetre higher to make the wings look like they are floating above the lashes. It’s a contemporary look.
