For whom the bell swirls!

Swaying in the wind, looking utterly feminine and dressy, these sleeves are in vogue.

If the season’s trends are anything to go by, it’s safe to surmise that oversized sleeves are quite having a major moment – yes, it’s about going all out with flared and exaggerated bell sleeves.

From Sonam Kapoor’s insta post to Rihanna and Blake Lively’s recent looks, the trend is quite on every fashionista’s radar! So, are we bringing ‘90s classic back? Absolutely, say city-based stylists and designers…

“Bell sleeves are perfect OOTD options at present. They’re easy to style and versatile. While it’s best worn as an off shoulder top, you can wear a high neck crop top inside for a comfortable yet chic appeal.

Since the very cut of bell sleeves are flowy and flared, fitted bottoms are your best bet to go with. Also, if the fit is not styled, go for bottoms with some structure,” suggests Anubhuti Verma, a senior stylist.

While the possibility of playing around with elements of androgyny makes the style all the more alluring, she stresses on accessorising right.

“Keep the look simple and let the highlight of the outfit be the sleeves. Choker necklaces go well with the look. You could complete the look with snazzy footwear options like a pair of sturdy oxfords, pristine white sneakers or nude Louboutins. Add a touch of edge to your look by sporting round rims and a cross body bag.”

For those on the heavier side, Raj Shroff, a fashion designer, opines on the importance of paying heed to the precision of the slit on the sleeves.

“A slit placed on the sleeves from bicep of the hand adds to the appeal,” Similarly, you can even pair them with well-thought out accouterments to cover up flaws.

“Throwing a flared coat or blazer over it gives out an illusion of a slimmer silhouette. Pair it with ankle boots and you have an outfit that works well for a chic off duty vibe!” adds Nagashree Shreyas, a designer.
