The desire for alabaster-like skin never fades. That said, it comes as no surprise that the booming multi-billion beauty industry is devising better and more effective treatments to realise every woman’s dream.
And if the latest buzz is anything to go by, Second Skin — a magic concoction of sorts, which comes in a bottle, is what is taking the beauty world by the storm.
Invented by the wizards at MIT, Second Skin is a two-step cream procedure that promises to temporarily iron out wrinkles, smoothen the contours and exude an instant glow.
Made of cross polymer technology, the cream is applied to the face in two layers. The first layer contains polysolixane and the second layer encomprises a platinum catalyst.
This catalyst makes the polymers from the first layer to cross connect and form a mesh like structure creating a strong filament. The procedure makes the wrinkles diminish within a span of 24 hours.
As the polymer and catalyst work in synchrony, it leaves a smooth second skin-like base. Most importantly, the material conforms to one’s facial shape and does not stick out or look odd or like an extra layer.
Interestingly, while normal skin can be stretched upto 180 times, the second skin can be stretched up to 250 times. This skin trend also helps conceal eye bags, droopy mouth and uneven pigmentation sans treatment.
Touted as a revolutionary component of sorts, the Second Skin is quite the need of the hour — to achieve skin that looks wrinkle free, is of a smooth texture and facilitates facial movement. Even those in their 20s can make use of the cream given the nourishment and protection it offers. This cream is not restricted to just one purpose per say. It can also be used as a sun protection for people prone to skin cancer, severe sun allergy and also as a wound dressing.
While the cream has everything that quite packs the punch, we’re waiting to see how the Indian market takes to the idea!
