Designer Manish Arora honoured with highest French distinction
New Delhi: Ace designer Manish Arora has been awarded the 'Knight of the Legion of Honour', the highest French civilian distinction, for his contribution to the world of fashion.
The award, which was presented to Arora in a ceremony here last evening, also recognises his long standing ties with France. "I'm thrilled and honoured by the recognition I have received from the country that I love with all my heart. France has been an inspiration always."
"I now live between Paris and Delhi and for me France is literally my own country. I hope to keep getting inspired by France, the beauty and elegance of the French people," Arora said. The Ambassador of France to India, Franois Richier, presented the honour to the designer on behalf of the President of the French Republic.
"Manish has a long-standing connection with France, which is like a second home for him. He is a pioneer in bringing the fashion culture of both countries together with his exuberant imagination. I am delighted to confer this high honour on
him," Richier said. In past Indian personalities like Satyajit Ray, Sivaji Ganesan, Pandit Ravi Shankar, Zubin Mehta, Amitabh Bachchan, and Shah Rukh Khan have been honoured by the French government.
