Tontour me beautiful

Tontouring is the latest (read long-lasting) trend that's been having a major moment.

Call it heaven-sent or an incredible innovation in the arena of make-up and beauty — tontouring is the latest (read long-lasting) trend that’s been having a major moment. We talk to Sara M. Anand, a certified professional make-up artist and cosmetologist, who gives us sure-fire ways to ace the look...

“Tontouring is like a semi-permanent tattoo that leaves you with a naturally sculpted face,” says Sara. Elucidating about the procedure, she tells us how it is identical to contouring, except the foundation is replaced with a self-tanning cream, for a longer stay.

Procedure: If you have very little experience with contouring, you could try this: Mix half a teaspoon of coco powder in half-a-teaspoon of moisturiser, blend well and you have yourself a self tanning cream, which can be easily removed in case you mess up.

Step 1. Apply a light layer of self tanning cream based on your skin tone, on your face. Don’t forget the neck.

Step 2. Choose a self-tanning cream 2-3 shades darker than your skin tone (depending on how deep/defined you want it to look).

Step 3. Contour your face with the dark tan cream (cheek bones, nose, jawline and forehead).

Step 4. Blend the dark cream so that it looks natural, but not too much because you also want your face to look defined.

Step 5. Don’t waste too much time blending as the cream might become sticky and harder to blend with time.

Step 6. Opt for self-tanning creams over mousse, spray, oil or serum. Sprays are hard to blend, mousse is too thick and oil and serums don’t give the best tontouring effect.
