Bake it up!

A make-up trend from your grandma's days is making a comeback!

A make-up trend from your grandma’s days is making a comeback! This trend was used for a very long time in the drag community and has now become popular with the likes of Kim Kardashian with a perfectly contoured and highlighted flawless face.

Baking technique is used to set the concealer and highlight (w/o shimmer) specific areas of your face. This is extensively used at red carpet and photoshoots for long lasting make-up and it will make you look like you have zero pores, who wouldn’t want that!

How to do it?
Apply a thick coat of translucent powder with a damp sponge on the concealer and dust it off after 5-10 minutes. The powder allows the heat from your face to set the liquid foundation and concealer to firmly ‘meld’ into your skin and hence it is termed ‘baked.’

Baking is used under the eyes, on the forehead, to hide the fine smile lines and to cut out the cheeks for an extreme sculpted and contoured face.
It is important to moisturise and prime your face thoroughly for a flawless matte and smooth finish. From luxury brands to drugstore favourites each make-up house has its own texture and variant of translucent or tinted baking powders. It has become one of the best ways to achieve a matte, poreless finish for any make-up look. So next time someone asks you to bake something for the part, just show up and serve them some face!
