Customised clothing

These ladies from the city are changing the personalised fashion game with their virtual style community.

If you’re looking for inspiration, you might have to look no further, as these two stylish young girls from the city Nandini Rao (31) and Maithreyi Gangjee (33) of netelier.com are doing their bit to make the world a stylish place. They’re blending digital and physical worlds with an interactive platform, celebrating the future of fashion with uniquely tailored made-to-order, personalised clothing.

What’s unique you ask? Well, you can inspire and create your own outfit – from inspirational mood boards; to tongue-in-cheek look book; and the drawing board, where you can mix and match between different options to create a personalised garment.

Talking about how the idea came about, Nandini, Netelier, shares, “The concept is an online atelier, which means an artist’s workspace or studio. The idea is to create a virtual space for collaboration between our venture and, other brands and artistes we love; and every fashionista who can design unique pieces of clothing by mixing and matching fabrics and silhouettes on the drawing board. It’s like a fun game where you play around in your free time. The best part is that one doesn’t need to buy their designs straight away, or at all. They can just save it for later in their own personal archive. It’s really a cool space for cool women to spend time in, which is evolving as we go along. We’re building a virtual community of style lovers.”

Ask them what is unique in terms of fashion, design and style and Maithreyi shares, “Besides allowing the fashion conscious community to participate in the design process there’s prêt, couture, limited edition clothing and accessories in collaboration with other artistes and brands (for instance a brooch from a jewellery brand, that fits our aesthetic, and with other brands that we admire). We create our own prints, which can be matched with different silhouettes on the drawing board, or picked from the signature line.” The design duo believes that a high-quality outfit must say something about who the wearer is.
