Looking glass: Contour dictions!

Here are a few pointers to keep in mind when you are going in for a hair contour.

Thought contouring was just for the face? Well, think again. Hair contouring is the perfect pick to add some jazz to your chipper personality! And interestingly, it’s a trend that’s a lot easier to sport than you’ve imagined!

Hair contouring basically entails using light and dark tones in specific areas of the hair. But like everything else, the selection of hues depend on various factors and is best done by a professional. The idea is to add depth to your hair by giving out an illusion of a great colour, thick texture, and shine. Ideally, one must opt for deeper shades for the roots and along the part, while micro-highlight pieces are threaded from above the ears to the ends of the hair, thus giving out an angular and slimming appearance to your visage.

Here are a few pointers to keep in mind when you are going in for a hair contour

1) Precision is very important. If you aren’t well-versed with creating immaculate waves with your fingers; use styling tools like a curling iron instead. Clumsily done waves give out a very unsightly appearance.

2) If you’re getting it done by a friend or someone who is not really a professional hair stylist, make sure they pay heed to the sections while contouring your hair.

3) Ideally, to ace a dual hair colour, opt for a shade that’s at least three shades lighter than your natural hair colour for the roots. And for the remaining rest, opt for a colour that’s maybe a couple of shades lighter than the shade you chose for your roots.

4) As a rule, make it a point to style your hair after hair contouring. A lot of Indian women think it’s perfectly fine to go in for a trendy hair do, and then stick to a regular wash and let it dry by itself – which is wrong. Setting is essential, post which, it is important to use a heat protectant to protect the hair.
