Make a big splash'
With Bengaluru experiencing showers earlier this year, the city is dreary and grey-skied. But alas, we can’t just curl up in bed with a good book and a cup of hot coffee because it’s raining outside.
Showing up drenched to college or work is a big no-no. Getting there on time, while also looking fashionable is the priority of most youngsters right now.
Sunaina Ganapathy, Summer Love says, “Keep hemlines short. Be it pants, dresses,0. The chance of muddy splatters on your clothes is lesser. Avoid whites as they tend to get transparent if caught in the rain. Instead play with bright colours and bold florals as they contrast the grey skies beautifully and adding much needed cheer as well. Also, don’t forget to invest in one good old fashioned U-handle umbrella. They’ve made a huge come back and are available in many pretty colours and contemporary prints.”
Accessorising is an exclamation point. “Monsoons call for junk jewellery with a lot of charms and tassels. Long necklaces with huge pendants, earrings and bracelets instantly brighten your look. Anklets work great too,” says Swathi BK, a jewellery designer, who feels that the right jewellery makes any outfit fabulous, rain or shine.
Shoe-addict Shreya Murlidharan, a fashion student confesses, “The inexpensive rubber shoes and sandals from Commercial Street and Brigade Road work best in the rain. You can afford to buy a pair with each outfit and wear heeled boots when you are going some place fancy or want to look chic.”
So don’t wait for the storm to pass. Get out there and make the world your runway!
