Given its dreamy and effeminate vibe, pink can never really go out of vogue. And this spring-summer, Honeysuckle pink makes a comeback – because it’s all about marrying understated appeal with absolute sass. City-based designers and stylists dish out ways to work the colour, in order to elevate your style a few notches.
“Honeysuckle pink is the perfect pick to infuse a streak of ladylike zeal into your work wear attire. But at the same time, the key to nailing the look lies in playing the mix and match game with different hues. Choose colours like black, charcoal grey or white to team honeysuckle pink with, to put together an impactful attire for work by taking little to no time,” suggests Karishma Singh, a city-based designer.
But while you’re at it, make sure to pay heed to the fabrics too. “The idea is to give out a dewy, ladylike appeal. So it’s a much safer bet to settle for softer and breathable fabrics like cotton, viscose and the like,” she adds.
Nixing the myths about sporting the colour, designer Shruti Kesavan says,
“Unlike popular beliefs about the colour going well on lighter and pale skin tones, the truth is, women with warmer undertones can also fabulous in the colour. While the rule of thumb is to neutralise the effects of a shade, it’s all about sporting the shade with a tinge of minimalism. Short snug fit dresses are apt for a fun soiree. Even long skirts or flowy gowns in the shade are splendid options for a casual yet chic appeal. You can always throw over a black lacy shrug so that the outfit doesn’t seem a tad overwhelming.”
While it is no ground breaking revelation to note how the right accouterments and footwear helps, stylist Tasneem Bohra says, “There’s a luxury of experimenting with accessories while donning pink. But I believe it’s always a better idea to let your attire speak, if you’re sporting a colour that trendy or season specific. Metallic shades like silver works well, but it’s best advised to keep the jewellery to the minimum. Keep the make-up to the minimal with just a volumising mascara for your lashes and a bold pink lip. You could also try embellished eyelids and nude lips for an evening look. Nude pumps and blingy ballerinas are perhaps the best bet for the feet. If you’re open to experimenting, do up your hair in an edgy up do like side swept cornrows. But for the minimalists, a slick ponytail always works.”...
