Matchy-matchy is not a beauty or fashion trend that you see often. For years, denim on denim was considered a faux pas till it came back strongly to be considered as a fashionable combo.

Similarly, this trend is catching up in make-up as well. The advantage of this monochrome trend is that you cut down on the number of products, thus it is suitable for those always on the go. That’s why the monochrome look is gaining popularity with jet-setting celebrities like Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Priyanka Chopra.

This summer make up trend can be approached in a variety of ways. The simplest and cleanest way to do it is to use the same shade on the eyelids, cheeks and the lips. It creates a synergic, colour-coded look which can also either cleanly complement or contrast your outfit, suggested Vogue.

The other way to pull of this look is to pair one colour with the colour of your outfit. For example, you can pair your neon dress with same coloured eyeliner or eye shadow or combine a red dress with a red lip. This look can be as bold as you are confident of pulling it off.

“The easiest way to match makeup is to choose a colour which naturally occurs on your face,” said makeup artist Andrew Gallimore. “That might be pink if you’re fair or beige and brown shades if you have darker skin.” While choosing a bold colour is a favoured move, it is advisable to use the right hue that matches your skin tone. Or else the effect could be too visually jarring.

Creamy textured products are the best bet for this kind of look as they can be easily used on the eyes and cheeks both. “You just have to dab them on with your fingers and they easily blend onto lips, cheeks and eyes,” Gallimore said. Certain lipstick formulations can be used on the cheeks and eyes as well. Creamy textures are easier to blend, giving you control over the amount of product and its intensity. Liquid lipsticks, lip and cheek tints as well as cream blushes are good for monochromatic looks.

From sculpting cheekbones to bringing out the colour in your eyes, using the same shade on your focal facial features harmonises the face, uniting it in the pursuit of perfect contour and polished features. In fact, it's your quick ticket to looking pulled together.
