Fashion revival with contemporary twist

Highlighting the evergreen fashion trends that are here to stay.

In the fashion landscape, where most designers are working around abstract, unique and wide designs, there are some who love to play around the traditional with a contemporary twist as these eclectic pieces never go out of vogue. Be it the hues, fabrics or design patterns, young maverick designers understand the hidden treasure in our conventional style. With their innovative ideas, they are reworking to keep the essence of evergreen fashion alive.

In an exclusive conversation with Deccan Chronicle, Fashion designer Ambika Lal, who launched her clothing line Ambika Lal Design, decodes the reviving fashion trends that will dominate this season.

Jumpsuits in vogue

No matter what is the body type, jumpsuits can be flattering for anyone – short, tall, curvy, or petite. Jumpsuits typically come in two styles: slim and flare. The style is a reflection of how the legs of the jumpsuit are tailored – either more fitted or roomy. For most women, suits with a gathered waist and flared bottoms are most flattering because the smallest part of the body is accentuated,"

She further mentions that to add to the options of slim and flare, jumpsuits are available in off the shoulder, cap sleeves, tank tops, long sleeved, and cropped options. The possibilities are endless. Most of the times women are afraid to step outside of their comfort zone and wear bold colours or flashy patterns. It is important to experiment and add dimension to your look.

Solid coloured jumpsuits are elegant yet trendy option for dinner dates and parties. Add zing to your look with some fun accessories like a pair of statement earrings. Stripe or floral prints are fun for a night out.

Ambika emphasises that accessorising an outfit is a sure way personalise and amp up your look. One simple way is by adding a statement jewellery piece. Brightly coloured earrings and bold necklaces are perfect options for solid coloured suits. Tossing on a blazer or cardigan will add contrast to patterns and prints,"

Regardless of how new you are to the jumpsuit game, this is a fashion statement that is sure to make your confidence skyrocket. Remember, it is not necessarily what you wear, but how you wear it. Confidence makes any outfit beautiful.

Monochrome Syndrome

Ambika thinks that the colour Black and White, when combined together, can make an amazing style-statement, “The Monochrome Trend, though has been a fashion must-have for forever now but has not been appreciated as much as it deserves to be. My endeavour is to fulfil the longing for a fresh, youthful take on the style as a gift for its loyal lovers,"

Knotted Tops

The 70’s trend of knotted tops makes a comeback this season. Ambika is of the opinion that teamed with high-waist jeans then it can make the waist-line look slim and legs look longer. Not just knotted-tops but knotted-dresses are trending this season.

To conclude Ambika shares, “Give a minimal outfit a stark contrast by adding a pair of quirky pair of heels and bright coloured satchel bag. Lastly, remember that too many colours might mar the overall look."
