Undeniably,  hair  plays a prominent part in one’s appearance.  And with more individuals coming to terms with the importance of well-kept tresses, there seems to be an upswing in hair trends like never before! While hues like Ombre, Balayage, Dip dye and the like have constantly been heard of, in hair trends over the past few years, the latest on the trend circuit is the Ecaille technique.

The word Ecaille is derived from a French word,  which means tortoise shell. The name sounds strange, but the concept sprouts from the highs and lows –  as seen in a tortoise shell, replicated on a head of hair to create a 3D effect! The effect is achieved through tones of several metallic colours like burnished bronze, rose gold, rich coppers, white and black pearl and polished platinum.

The technique is being pegged as one of the most striking hair trends of the season – and with good reason. It is excellent for all  hair lengths and textures.  The biggest plus? It is  free from the hassle of constant touch ups. Yes, so it’s  easy maintenance and ideal for  women on the go. Furthermore, the idea is a break from the ubiquitous and  the age-old technique of stripey highlights. Hence, the trend  exudes a very fluid appeal with lots of movement. Since the technique is largely a free hand technique, it is important  the placements of colour is made as such, that the face shape is contoured to highlight or rather accentuate the best visages in one’s face.

The technique is fluid and gives out a natural appeal at the same time. With the winter  and the wedding season fast approaching, this is the perfect time to give your hair a revamp. And so, the Ecaille technique works well for every girl out there who wants to make a subtle yet striking statement!
