Fashion experts decode the trick to nail the beach looks.
SPLASH SOME BOLD SHADES:
From hats and sunglasses to swimsuits and sandals, the list for a perfect holiday wardrobe is pretty obvious but the trick is to get the right fit in the right shade that accentuates your style. Island vacations are the best excuse to wear bold and bright colours that stand out. Designer Meghna Goyal, founder of the label Summer Somewhere, recommends carrying linen outfits for a breezy island vacation. She says, "Personally, I love to wear white on vacation, it’s very classic and almost always looks great in pictures in an island setting. When you wear a matching linen set over your bikini, it looks casual but also very classy. It is the easiest cover- up but also looks trendy. You can pair it with coastal inspired jewellery along with a shirt and shorts or co-ord sets for a complete look. Cut-out silhouettes instantly add a bit of sexiness."
For the perfect beach look on a tropical paradise, opt for a breezy and vibrant ensemble that captures the essence of the sun- soaked surroundings. Start with a light- weight, colorful swimsuit or bikini that reflects tropical vibes. Pair it with a flowy, light- weight cover-up or a vibrant sarong that can easily be tied as a skirt or a dress, suggests designer Narendra Kumar, creative director at Amazon Fashion. He adds, "Don’t forget a wide-brimmed hat to shield yourself from the sun, along with stylish sunglasses. Complete the look with comfortable sandals or flip-flops, and accessorize with a statement beach bag, sunscreen, and a beach towel. What works best in photos is vibrant colours, then prints followed by style of dress. Colour is what attracts one at the first glance, a statement print accentuates the same. Dresses with slits paired with trending gladiator sandals create an alluring image. Add oversized earrings and/or sun- glasses to match the entire look. Playing with a deep neckline or off-shoulder does not harm. Finally, embrace the carefree spirit and radiate confidence as you soak up the sun and enjoy the tropical beach paradise."
SEXY SIDE UP
For women, who dare to bare and are not afraid to show their bold side through fashion, there are options like metallic latex bikinis, LBD style swimsuits and bralets with underwired, push-up and plunging necklines that are hard to ignore. From molded bustiers, trikinis (three- piece swimwear), corset tops, strapless swimwear etc., there are a range of options to choose from
Designer Narendra Kumar’s advice to keep it cool
FLOWY MAXI DRESS: Opt for lightweight, flowy maxi dresses in vibrant colors or tropi- cal prints, the bigger the print, the better. Crochet dresses also work really well — Cool and breezy.
SUN HAT: Shield yourself from the strong sun rays with a fashionable wide-brimmed hat. Choose a floppy straw hat or a stylish Panama hat.
FOOTWEAR: Sliders or flip-flops are the go- to footwear for the season. Amp up your style with a pair of gladiator sandals.
STATEMENT SUNGLASSES: Protect your eyes with over- sized sunglasses; wide-rimmed sunglasses are in vogue now.
TOTES: They are an important accessory for any island travel. Jute, hemp, canvas, or anything sustainable in oatmeal colours sets one off against nature.
MOST IMPORTANT: Don’t forget a strong SPF sunblock.
"A perfect beach look comes with donning anything in which a woman looks comfortable and confident. Sultry silhouettes will always be in vogue. One can always carry a printed kimono or a kaftan with your swimsuit and a hat that can have your initials writ- ten or something quirky to get a great shot. From accessories made with sea shells to carrying jewellery made up of resin art, styling holiday wear is always fun and full of colours. Make it extra boho by adding a flowy floral beach cover-up, beaded accessories, and an oversized hat." — ABHISHEK GUPTA, founder of the label Kamuk Life
