Beauty hacks for the rainy day
India observes six seasons in a year, based on which not only do Ayurvedic texts detail ritu charya (seasonal regime) but also emphasises on the need to follow a specific regime for ritu sandhi (change of season). As we are witnessing heavy downpours all across the country, here are a few easy beauty tips:
Cleanse: In this season, the skin feels sticky and oily which causes dust particles to settle on your skin. To take care of this issue, soap-free and powder-based face cleanser should be used. It helps get rid of extra oil and along with cleansing it, acts as a scrub.
Mask: A face pack comprising eaglewood powder or sweet flag, liquorices and lodhra along with papaya paste, honey and milk is highly beneficial. Vetiver water can be used to maintain balance of vata and pitta dosha of the face as it not only closes the overactive pores but also moisturises the skin gently.
Oil: Add sesame oil in bathing water to avoid dryness. To avoid fungal and bacterial infections in the monsoons, an equal amount of neem oil and almond oil should be mixed and applied all over body once a week before bath. Lastly, just because you cannot see the sun due to the clouds in the monsoons, it doesn’t mean you don’t need sun protection.
