Maharashtra CM's wife to be showstopper at NY Fashion Week
Indian handloom is a fine example of traditional Indian craft and a number of politicians, celebrities and designers have come together to promote an art form which has been forgotten over time.
While Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has been busy figuring out policies for the purpose of nation building, it seems his wife Amruta Fadnavis isn’t far behind when it comes out to dedicating time and effort for a cause.
She will now be a show stopper for young designers from Pune based Chasa Institute of Design and Technology at the New York Fashion Week, as she will be seen sporting an Indo-western handloom attire.
The students mostly belong from poor families of farmers and porters, and Amruta Fadnavis will be walking the ramp to promote handlooms and education for girls as well.
This isn’t a first for Amruta Fadnavis, as she has earlier walked the ramp for designer Hemant Trivedi in a bid to support tribal art and handloom from Maharashtra.
She agreed for the appearance simply after seeing the enthusiasm of the students and is also working with BMC to improve education in civic-run schools in Mumbai.
A banker by profession, Amruta Fadnavis also mentioned that she feels empowered by the support of husband Devendra Fadnavis.
