It's lingerie time!

Who says lingerie must be worn inside? Stylists tell you how you can sport the look like Deepika Padukone and Kardashian sisters.

For the promotions of her upcoming movie xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Deepika Padukone recently sported a lingerie-inspired dress. Internationally, models Bella Hadid, Chrissy Teigen and reality TV stars Kim and Khloé Kardashian have been styling themselves with pieces of lingerie, too. Victoria’s Secret had also started a campaign recently, which encouraged women to wear, bodysuits, slips, slip dresses, bralettes, lace and sheer on the outside. Though the campaign received a backlash from few people, many others argued that there are ways to wear lingerie, without really exposing. Stylists say that celebrities go for the raunchy look, but there are many tricks to wear lingerie as outerwear without feeling over-exposed and follow the ubiquitous trend.

Celebrity stylist Nitasha Gaurav, who styles Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha says that, “Lingerie was worn outside in the 90s, but the trend is making a comeback. And it’s a doable look. Layering is the best way to wear it. Women can wear a slip dress and team it up with tweed or denim shirts. Another easy way of doing it is wearing a bralette and teaming it up with a jacket and denim skirt. Since it’s winter, it’s a style that can be totally followed.”

What accessories and make-up can one wear with this trend? Nitasha says, “Go for delicate accessories. Two or three thin chains along with cuffs and bracelets should do. Ankle-length boots will complete the whole look really well.” Celebrity stylist Rick Roy, who has styled Tamannaah, says, “It’s a huge international trend. Rihanna, Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian have rocked the look. In India, I don’t think you can go too sexy. There are many stars like Deepika Padukone, who opt for the mid-way look. Lot of lace can be worn and covered up with a jacket. I think one should go for the complete look or don’t sport the look at all. It should have the oomph factor.”
