Hyderabad shines at Lakme Fashion Week 2016
The Lakme Fashion Week that started on Wednesday will see quite a few talents from Hyderabad. From Archana Rao, Anand Kabra and Gaurang Shah to Anushree and Jayanti Reddy, the designers are getting a lot of attention.
Day 1 saw Archana Rao and Anand Kabra showcase their designs.
Archana’s Frou-Frou label was a treat to the eyes with her “A Petticoat” collection, which was inspired by a fictional character named Lolita, gave an easy going vibe at Lakmé Fashion Week. Meanwhile Anand Kabra’s show lived up to the promise of grandeur.
Kabra, who prefers not to showcase in the main show area, stuck to pattern as he transformed the level six parking space at the sprawling St. Regis Hotel into a grand venue for his creations to unfold. His line of party and bridal wear was a mélange of traditional ensembles that displayed the designer’s fascination for Indian embroidery such as gota, aina, resham, zar and pitta.
The colour palette was beige, maroon, midnight blue and gold and the silhouettes that glided through comprised lehengas, shararas, floor-length anarkalis, jackets and saris.
There was also a traditional rendition of the jumpsuit that stood out, in midnight blue teamed with a gold-embroidered jacket.
