The assistant director of Mines and Geology, B Satyanarayana on Tuesday issued orders to this effect to the project director of TS mining development corporation (TSMDC) in Karimnagar. The order was in response to a news in Deccan Chronicle with the heading ‘Illegal sand mining goes unabated’ in Jammikunta mandal of Huzurabad constituency.

Illegal mining and transport of sand is going on unabated in the region. Hundreds of lorry-loads of sand are transported illegally from various quarries in the catchment area of Manair river of Jammikunta mandal to Hyderabad via Sultanabad of Peddapalli district.

Due to this, the roads in the surrounding villages were largely damaged, posing a problem to the villagers and the students in particular. The illegal transport of sand has increased majorly in recent times.

The mining official also issued orders asking the vehicles to find alternative routes for transporting the sand in Peddapalli district by avoiding Jammikunta mandal as the villagers are un in arms against these activities.
