A brief and different tone of casual leave email from a Gen Z intern has caught the attention of the internet, prompting discussions related to the work environment, professionalism, and mental health, as well as the evolution of the workplace.
A Reddit user who is managing a small AI startup posted an email with a caption saying, “I got an email from one of the interns asking for a leave (not actually asking), and aisa mail 20 sal ki career mein main kabhi nahi dekha.” The user expressed appreciation for the sincerity and honesty of Gen Z.
The email sent by the intern was titled “Going for a trip.”
It further read, "Hi, feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the work, and my energy feels a little off, so not getting that vibe right now. I'll be out from 28th July to 30th July (please don't miss me). Here's my train PNR XXX, and attaching the booking slip for reference. Will talk soon, bye."
The post sparked a discussion on social media and left the internet divided. While some people appreciated it, others questioned the professionalism displayed.
A user wrote, “Look, I’m Gen-Z and I get the desire for a break, but there are better ways to say you’re taking one. I find this embarrassingly unprofessional. Nothing wrong with honesty but so many better ways to say this. Aisa email doston may samajh aaye, lekin boss ke sath? Kabhi nahi.”
“Honestly, this is iconic. We should all follow Gen Z's lead, especially my spouse, who hasn't taken a day off in two months,” another user said.
