Hyderabad: It was a memorable night for dance enthusiasts on Saturday at the Taramati Baradari that hosted the Natya Thoranam. The second edition of the annual event showcased six Indian classical dance forms — Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Odissi, Kathak and Andhra Natyam — on one stage.

Driven by the vision to reinforce the vanishing classical dance traditions by preserving them from extinction, the organisers, Amrita Cultural Trust, will conduct a pan-India ‘Hyderabad Classical Dance Festival’ to popular appreciation, said managing trustee Rajesh Pagadala.

The evening commenced with a Ganesh prarthana by way of a Kuchipudi rendition by the Surendra Nadh group and picked up a crescendo with each successive dance presentation.

Classical dance connoisseurs, who, as performers, paid homage to their gurus, were immaculate in their renditions.
