HYDERABAD: Parishes of the Archdiocese of Hyderabad, especially those in the interiors, have been urged to celebrate the decennial of the state formation day on Wednesday. Those who took part in the statehood movement will be felicitated and special prayers will be offered for the martyrs. Some churches have planned procession rallies and activities to mark the day.
Two major churches will be holding special holy mass at 6 pm, St Joseph's Cathedral in Gunfoundry and St Mary's Basilica at SD Road in Secunderabad.
Speaking to this correspondent here on Saturday, Victor Emmanuel, chancellor, Archdiocese of Hyderabad, said, “As per the instructions of Cardinal Poola Anthony, we have corresponded to all the parishes which are under the Archbishop of Hyderabad regarding the June 21 celebrations.”
The office of the Cardinal sent the celebration message on Friday. He added, “We want to invite all those who were actively involved in the struggle. Their contributions will be highlighted during the sermon.”
Fr Emmanuel said, “This special occasion allows us to showcase our solidarity with the state government and express our support to the people of Telangana.”
