5 reasons why you should become a Screenwriter

Screenwriting is a tough business. You’re the first one in a long line of creators, and you must be the one to face that dreaded blank page. And once you’re done writing, the work is still only just beginning. The business is full of strenuously long waits and rejections. However, when the good news comes along, it’s unlike any other thrill you’d ever experience. So, here are 5 reasons why you should get on this train:

1. There are no limits

Yes, productions have budgets, but your imagination doesn’t. Write what you want to and let your stories fly. This can include a superhero spectacle or a small-scale idea with great emotional depth. It’s your story, however, you want it told. There are no obstacles while you’re sitting with your laptop, so stay ready for whenever inspiration strikes.

2. Experiment Away!

Every day we see films and shows that break the mould. Visual mediums like film and TV offer opportunities that many other fields don’t. While there are genres and templates, you are free to break the rules and create your own structures. As long you resonate with your story, you will find an audience.

3. Creating Magic on Screen and on Set

Unlike novels, screenplays rely highly on visual descriptions. This is where your imagination skills can shine. Create imaginary worlds and beautiful scenes. And when it comes through and your movie starts production, you will get to see how it’s built from scratch on set.

4. No Offices and Cubicles

Screenwriting is not a 9-5 job. Most likely, you will have your scripts on your mind 24/7. While this has its drawbacks, you won’t have a dull office or a cubicle you must recede into with your laptop and work on spreadsheets. Instead, you can choose where your workspace will be. And once there, you will get to dive into your imagination and create stories.

5. The Finish

The rush of satisfaction you’d feel once you finish your script will convince you this is the right path for you, even with all its hurdles and struggles.
