200 faithful take part in Trumpet festival rally in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Over 200 people from the Christian community on Saturday morning took part in the annual Trumpet Festival Rally religious procession along Necklace Road.

Blowing trumpets and singing hymns, the group was led by Ch Aruna Jyothi, from the Church of Jesus Christ, Asher Geoffrey of Emmanuel House Of Worship, Chinnappa Vamshi of Millennium Church and Georg Methews from Vanastalipuram.

The chief guest for the rally was CSI Bishop K. Padma Rao of Dornakal diocese, and incharge Bishop of Medak diocese.

The rally is being held in June, since 2019, initiated by Selvin Raj, president of the Greater Hyderabad Trumpet Festival Rally organising committee. “This is a festival where we proclaim the Christ’s second-coming.”

Raj King of Hebron Church, who took part in the rally, said, “The festival brings in all the denominations together. As we conclude, the pastors deliver the message from the Bible.”

David Norfolk, of the Methodist Millennium Church, SD Road, said: “The youth are excited to join this rally. It is a unique rally where the trumpets are blown while walking. The scenic Necklace Road is an added perk.”

Abhishek of Wesley Church, located at Clock Tower, said: “Many participants wear full white attire. This festival is gaining popularity amongst the Christian denominations.”

Bishop Padma Rao said that fulfilment of end-time Biblical prophecies such as frequent earthquakes, pandemics, wars and natural calamities, implied that the second coming of Christ will be soon, as per religious beliefs.
