Soma Giri, renowned dancer, choreographer and actor from Kolkata, will perform in Kochi this weekend. She will also be conducting a workshop. Soma will perform ‘Ami’, which is about the struggle of a girl to establish her identity in an unjust society, at Lokadharmi Nadakaveedu, Nayarambalam, on June 1. Soma fuses Bharatanatyam, Kalaripayattu, Chau, and contemporary dance to come up with a unique performance. She has performed at venues across India and abroad including the Konark Dance Festival, Bharangam and India Festival at Dhaka.
On June 2, a workshop on body language and movement for actors will be held. The performance and the workshop will start on 10 am. The admission is for the first 20 persons through registration. The age limit for registration is 15 to 45 years.
