There is probably no better option to accentuate an accent wall other than placing a beautiful artwork on it. A painting that adorns the wall takes the décor of your house to the next level. However, many people do not know from where they can buy the works that in addition to qualifying their criteria of a soulful painting, are also made by prominent artists. This thought persuaded Sreekanth Nettor to come up with the concept of Waklahun, exhibition-cum-sale of some of the works by 16 prominent artists, at the Pacha Mama Café, Aluva.

Elaborating on the concept behind the exhibition, Sreekanth says, “Waklahun means 16 in the Mayan script and 16 artists’ works have been exhibited here. There are many people who love to buy artworks as they like to beautify their houses with a statement piece rather than buying any usual painting from a random décor shop. However, there are very few people who approach the artists asking them to create a work for them. Moreover, I got to know that most of the people who are just admirers of art prefer to keep nature inspired paintings at their homes. Paintings that have landscape, wild animals, birds, waterfalls etc. are their favourites. This is the reason why I very carefully chose 16 artists who use nature as the theme in their creations. Through Waklahun, we would like people to come, admire and buy those art creations, which catch their attention and give them a very organic feeling each time they look at them.”

Sreekath adds that the exhibition features a collection of paintings in different mediums. As works of 16 artists are being exhibited,  provides an opportunity to see 16 different styles under one roof. “All the artists who are part of the exhibition are big names and have their own unique styles of creating art. It can, therefore, be considered as art in abundance under one roof only for those true admirers who love to collect such unique pieces,” adds Sreekanth.

The exhibition-cum-sale is on till February 16 during the gallery timings – 12 noon to 9 pm.
